TIDA shares vision on Thai Design Education at AIDIA Forum 2026 in Kaifeng, People’s Republic of China
The Thailand Interior Designers’ Association (TIDA), led by Ms. Monthip Lynn Assoratgoon, Vice President for Foreign Affairs, recently participated as a guest speaker at the AIDIA Forum 2026. The forum was held as part of the AIDIA International Student Workshop 2026 at the College of Fine Arts, Henan University, in Kaifeng, People’s Republic of China.
The presentation, titled “Shaping Future Interior Designers in Thailand: Education, Industry, and Professional Responsibility,” shared insights into the future direction of interior design education in Thailand amidst critical global challenges. These challenges include Climate Change, Technological Disruption, and Demographic Change.
The presentation highlighted that the role of a 21st-century interior designer extends far beyond creating beautiful and functional spaces. Today’s designers must also address quality of life, sustainability, evolving lifestyles, and social and environmental responsibility. Furthermore, it emphasized TIDA’s vital role as a bridge connecting educational institutions, professionals, and the industry to collaboratively empower the next generation of designers to thrive in a rapidly changing world.
Additionally, representatives from leading Thai educational institutions joined the session to share their approaches to teaching and curriculum development. Dr. Pasu Jarusiri from the Faculty of Decorative Arts, Silpakorn University, and Asst. Prof. Chanida Lamtaweepahsan from the School of Architecture and Design (SoA+D), King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi, presented their respective curricula’s alignment with future technologies, innovations, and industry demands. This highlights the strong collaboration between academia and professional organizations in elevating design education in Thailand.
The AIDIA Forum 2026 serves as a vital platform for representatives from member countries across Asia to exchange knowledge, share visions on education management, and discuss professional design development. This collaborative effort paves the way for sustainable international academic and professional networks.
TIDA remains dedicated to promoting professional education, developing young designers, and fostering international collaborations. These efforts aim to drive Thailand’s interior design industry forward in lockstep with global changes, cultivating designers equipped with knowledge, creativity, ethics, and social responsibility—ready to build a sustainable future through design.
