AIDIA Forum 2026 | Exchanging Visions, Shaping the Future of Design Education in Asia
Another highlight of the AIDIA International Student Workshop 2026 was the AIDIA Forum 2026. This panel discussion brought together representatives from various Asian countries to exchange perspectives on the direction of the design profession and education within a rapidly changing global context.
Representatives from each country presented key insights reflecting their unique identities and challenges:
- China highlighted the development of design education integrated with innovation, technology, and urban development.
- South Korea presented design as a crucial driver of the national economy and creative industries.
- Thailand introduced design concepts rooted in cultural diversity and the harmonious coexistence of people across different ethnicities, religions, and institutions.
Thailand was honored to be represented by Ajarn Wachira Thammathikom, Secretary-General of the Thailand Interior Designers’ Association (TIDA), and Dr. Pasu Jarusiri, a faculty member from the Faculty of Decorative Arts, Silpakorn University. Together, they shared Thailand’s experiences, concepts, and vision for design education on this international stage.
This vibrant exchange of ideas not only highlighted the unique characteristics of each nation but also demonstrated that despite differing contexts, all countries share a common goal: to nurture a new generation of designers who are creative, socially responsible, capable of cross-cultural collaboration, and fully prepared to tackle the challenges of the 21st century.
The AIDIA Forum is therefore more than just a panel discussion—it is a space for mutual learning, networking, and laying a solid foundation for future design education cooperation across Asia.
